The Topkapi Secret - Terry Kelhawk
From the cover:
1,400-year old secret...
Those who threaten this secret die....
Two people risk their lives to uncover the truth....
Cultures clash and emotions soar as Arab researcher Mohammad Atareek and Maerican professor Angela Hall team up to solve one of history's greatest cover-ups. Time is running out. Opponents who will stop at nothing are dedicated to maintaining the secret. Will Mohammed and Angela finish their whirlwind journey of discovery or will it cost them their lives?
My Take:
This is one of the most exciting books I've read in quite a while! The Topkapi Secret is like The Divinci Code of Islam! This book kept me on my toes and up late at night. I followed Angela along on her journeys to far away places in the Middle East for research. Terry Kelhawk paints a beautiful picture of each stop along Angela's journey.
When Angela visits her family and leaves with her cousin Mohammed as a traveling companion, the entire pace of the book changes. Mohammed is someone you would love to spend a day with! He is handsome, charming, funny and intelligent all rolled into one. I loved his quick wit and laughed out loud over and over again at the hilarious bantering back and forth between Angela and Mohammed as they traveled near and far.
I learned alot about the Middle East and Islam through this book that I did not know. I was surprised at some of the customs and the history.
Now, I will be honest. I am a sucker for a good love story and Terry Kelhawk manages to intertwine love, loss, fear, intrigue and much much more into each page of this page turner! You will think about this story when you are not reading it and will find yourself drawn back to it's pages over and over again until you reach the end of the story. I really hope to see a sequel!
